Weighted Vest

These vests work by providing children that have sensory processing difficulties with deep pressure and proprioceptive input that they need. An Occupational Therapist should be consulted to determine if this type of ongoing sensory input is an appropriate strategy for your child as it can make all the difference in helping them to calm and organise themselves.

Calming Kids Weighted Vests are designed to aid children and have been designed with the support of an Occupational Therapist who specialise in the treatment of sensory processing and sensory integration difficulties. They are available in a variety of sizes and colours. The weights are made with steel pellets and are secured in a double sealed and sewn bag in a matching colour to the vest.

Benefits and features

Each vest includes one set of weights with a choice of our regular weights or we can make them for a specific weight. The recommended weight of the vests is 5% of your child's weight. These weights are made with steel pellets contained in 4-6 bags to place in the front and back pockets on the vest. Under specialist instruction some children benefit from a little more weight (up to 10%) and these can be made as an extra set of 5% to fit into the same front and back pockets on the vest and can be removed easily as needed. Extra Small (Chest 48-55cm) - 4 x 190 gram weights

Medium (Chest 65-69cm) - 4 x 312 gram weights
Large (Chest 70-76cm) - 4 x 400 gram weights
Extra Large (Chest 77-83cm) - Available in Navy only - 6 x 350 gram weights

Care instructions

The vest is machine washable but the weighted bags are not. We recommend using a wash bag to keep the vest in good condition and looking great. These can be purchased here.
